Founding

In 1823, Altenloh, Brinck & Co was the first German company to start industrial production of screws. The company abbreviation ABC becomes a recognised brand for fasteners of the highest quality. Further diversification to branch out as a development-driven supplier of special fasteners, constantly improved and rationalised production processes and convincing product advantages forms the basis for the constant success of the company.

1st SPAX generation

  • In 1967, ABC revolutionises the market with the launch of the universal screw, the SPAX, which has since embarked on a worldwide conquest.
  • From the very beginning, SPAX was systematically built as a premium brand and sold exclusively as the brand in the characteristic green packaging.
  • Meanwhile, it has become synonymous with the modern universal screw par excellence for DIY enthusiasts and craftsmen across all continents.

2nd SPAX generation – launch of the SPAX-S

  • With the SPAX-S, ABC develops a screw that, in addition to all the other application advantages of the ABC-SPAX, has yet more new and outstanding characteristics.
  • The outstanding feature of the SPAX-S is the serrated edge. It's easy to see that this renowned and proven design of serrated edge for powerful cutting edges also gives the SPAX-S additional bite.

3rd SPAX generation

  • ABC revolutionises the market again with the latest SPAX.
  • The SPAX 4CUT point together with the SPAX MULTI head and patented ground serrations result in an absolutely top class, high-tech screw.
  • The SPAX T-STAR plus recess (aka 'drive') offers all the advantages of the SPAX T-STAR recess (no cam-out effect, minimisation of the contact force, absorption of high torques).
  • In addition, this recess has a small depression in the screw head below the drive surfaces into which the matching SPAX T-STAR plus BIT with guide cone (or centre pin) can be precisely inserted.
  • This SPAX T-STAR plus connection ensures the optimum transmission of torque, a long service life for the SPAX T-STAR plus BITs and a perfect fit.
  • Even working overhead is easy.

Konny Reimann becomes brand ambassador

  • No matter how diverse SPAX's contemporary brand image may be, nobody embodies the essence of the SPAX brand as authentically and credibly as Germany's most famous emigrant Konny Reimann. The do-it-yourself enthusiast known from his appearances on German TV has become a brand ambassador and "the face of SPAX" over the past few years.
  • Konny’s congeniality, his courage to break new ground and his craftsmanship, which he impressively and repeatedly demonstrates with new DIY constructions, fit the SPAX brand perfectly.

„Made in Germany“ – TÜV-certified

  • SPAX products can be purchased around the globe in the familiar green packaging on which their origin is proudly stated: Ennepetal – headquarters and production site. And this is exactly where certification for the "Made in..." label for SPAX screws was carried out in an elaborate test procedure conducted by the German technical inspectorate TÜV.

Simon Rehm becomes official brand ambassador for SPAX

  • German world champion carpenter Simon Rehm becomes official brand ambassador for SPAX International. Rehm won gold for Germany's national carpenter team at both the European and World Championships. As an ambassador, he is clearly committed to the company from Ennepetal and its quality "Made in Germany" products.

50 years of SPAX

  • 2017 saw SPAX celebrate its 50th anniversary as a brand product.
  • For five decades, the brand has been systematically developed in order to adequately and flexibly respond to the respective market requirements and customer wishes.
  • What’s more, throughout its history, SPAX has not only been in step with the times but often enough well ahead of them, too.
  • Over the years, SPAX has been continually optimised technologically through innovations in order to underpin and defend its claim to be a premium brand.
  • 50 years down the road, SPAX has become a classic German brand renowned for its tradition and quality product and in demand worldwide. Its 50th anniversary is the best proof of the brand's success.
