Wall

A timeless option with added benefits: wall and ceiling cladding with wood and panels. In order to ensure flawless results that continue to look good for years to come, the wood and panels must be fastened to the battens in a careful and precise manner. With the right SPAX screws, splitting and material wastage can be avoided, too.

The main fact at a glance

  • Decorative panels and wood profiles are not only timeless, but also practical: simply replace, add or remove as you please.
  • Because the material is extremely thin, screws should not produce any splitting.
  • SPAX screws are ideal for installing wood cladding on walls.

Classics do not become classics by chance. Like decorative panels and wood profiles for wall and ceiling design, for instance. While they might not be used to kit out entire interiors like back in the 70s, on the right partial area and wall section, they can still have a striking effect on any house. They also pack some practical advantages: because decorative panels and wood profiles are fastened rather than glued, elements can be replaced, added or completely removed at any time. Much easier than with glued wallpaper or tiles.

What do I need to know?

Decorative panels and wood profiles are always a good idea for interior design projects. All that you need as a base is a substructure made of planed slats, which are simply fastened to the walls with plugs. You can then fasten the individual profiles and panels using our SPAX screws – which can be visible or concealed depending on preference. When it comes to wood cladding, screws need to be able to do more than just keep the elements in place. Because wood profiles or panels are rarely thicker than 20 mm, screws must not split the material. With visible fastening, it is important to ensure the precise positioning of the screw tip. Only this way can it be inserted without damaging the sensitive coating. Of course, the screws also need to be a good aesthetic match for the project – both in terms of shape and colour.

What solutions does SPAX offer?

You can see that there is a lot to consider when planning your interior design project. With their meticulous details, SPAX screws more than live up to this challenge: the 4CUT point reduces splitting during screw insertion, even without pre-drilling in areas with low edge clearance. The obligatory wooden substructure is best aligned with the SPAX adjusting screw – thanks to its retaining grooves, which grip into the wood during the adjustment process, assembly with millimetre precision is possible.

For visible fastening, the MULTI head complete with milling pockets ensures that the screw sits perfectly in the wood.  The raised countersunk head and pan head look great on all surfaces. Especially in the high-quality WIROX version. However, the universal screw with centre drill can also be elegantly concealed with a discreet plastic cover cap.
