Business Founder Prize

We encourage independence: In 2010, together with the Bundesverband Holz und Kunststoff (BHKH - 'Federal Association for Wood and Plastics'), SPAX awarded a prize for business founders in carpentry and joinery for the first time. All individuals that have completed their examination for the master craftsman's certificate in 2010 and intend to found their own carpentry or joinery business are entitled to participate, and have a chance to win the main prize: 10,000 euros will be awarded for the most innovative master craftsman's examination project. "Our Business Founder Prize is intended to emphasise the importance of the highest certification of competence in carpentry and joinery," explain BHKH President Alfred Jacobi and Micha Hochstrate, Product Manager for timber construction at SPAX. "At the same time, we want to encourage young craftsmen and craftswomen to make the leap into independence. The successfully completed examination for the master craftsman's certificate has given them everything they need."

The applicants are required to submit the drafts, planning and documentation for their master craftsman's examination project. In addition, they are requested to present on a maximum of one A4 page the business that they wish to found, describing their business economics approach, their entrepreneurial attitude and their personal strengths.

Federal performance competition

We support know-how: Every year the best apprentices of the joiners and carpenters compete in their own official German championship. The winners from the different federal states of Germany are determined in advance, and within the framework of the competition they have 19 hours in which to produce a piece of work that is not known in advance. This performance increases their chances of success in the German championship. The location where the competition is held changes every year – SPAX is always there.

… at home and in the world

We travel the world Within the framework of the SPAX Roadshow, we are on tour not just in Germany, but also in France, Italy, Spain, Belgium and Switzerland. Information relating to SPAX, practical tips, factual information for retailers and customers, entertainment, and of course the opportunity to try out SPAX for oneself – all this and much more is on offer for visitors to our SPAX truck!

Open Houses RUHR.2010

We introduce ourselves: one does not become European Capital of Culture every year. For this reason, we are taking advantage of the opportunity and open the doors of SPAX International within the framework of RUHR.2010. On a number of dates throughout the year, guests from around the world will be given the opportunity to see behind the scenes of the screw production process at our factory, and get to know our company a little better.

SPAXI Racing Bobby Car

As a project entitled "Development of a SPAXI Racing Car", in 2005 the ABC training workshop began building a racing-quality Bobby Car. Within 5 months containing countless hours of work, innumerable drawings, ideas and material tests, two top-class SPAXI high-tech racing cars were produced in accordance with the strict guidelines of the Bobby-Car-Club Deutschland e.V.

During the initial speed measurements within the framework of a training camp in the Eifel mountains in October 2005, our boys achieved over 80 km/h. Spurred on by this success, on 15 October 2005, the "SPAX Racing Team" was founded. With the objective of taking part in the Krombacher Challenge during the 2006 racing season, they worked hard on the SPAXI Car over the following months. The project has since been running itself, and has helped our trainees grow together into a strong team. In 2008, the second generation of the racing team was already starting the racing season with renewed and technically advanced SPAXI Cars. And in the 2010 season, we are again already on the starting line. Further information on our forthcoming racing schedule:

… in sport

The beginnings of our works football team go all the way back to 1995. Even then, the "SPAX Team" already played regular friendly matches against customers or other companies in the region. An important "deciding match" was even played at the Tivoli stadium in Aachen! It was from this sporting group that, in 2008, the official "BSG SPAX 67" was created, which is professionally led by a board of directors selected by its members. There are currently 55 active and passive members, who support the BSG team, and are drawn both from SPAX and from other corporate divisions of ABC.

Already in their first season in the league of the works sport association Betriebssportverband Hagen-Ennepe-Ruhr e.V., our BSG made it to the cup finals, and our 18 or so players are cutting a good figure in the current league games.

Keeping fit together and enjoying sport, this is the principle under which we train once per week at the Bremen Stadium in Ennepetal, on the brand new synthetic turf of the 4th generation. With its team of players aged between 17 and 50, the BSG can thus easily stand up to any opponents from other renowned regional companies and in its league!

Westphalian league – We are playing too! In the 2009/2010 season, our protegé TuS Ennepetal has reached its highest football league so far, and the league of North Rhine-Westphalia is not far off. As their main sponsor, we support Ennepetal with heart and know-how.

We support the most respected international U19 football tournament, the SPAX Cup of TuS Ennepetal! It is held every year in May, and draws around 15,000 spectators from near and far to the Bremen Stadium in Ennepetal. Famous U19 teams from major international clubs such as FC Chelsea, Manchester United, CA Boca Juniors, Atletico Mineiro, FC Schalke, Borussia Dortmund and Hamburg SV make a very attractive range of participants for Ennepetal each year.

Over three days of tournament, the 8 teams compete to establish the winner, and can present themselves to the world of football. At the end, the champion goal scorer, the best player and the best goalie of the tournament are chosen, while in the background professional contracts are wrapped up. The tournament has in past years included players who went on to shine on the international stage: Lajos Detari, Jürgen Klinsmann, Dennis Bergkamp, Andrei Schevtchenko and David Beckham, Franco Foda, Mario Basler and Stefan Effenberg – all of them have played in the Bremen Stadium.
