This special drive is a so-called hexalobular internal. Compared to less precise-fitting drive types like Phillips or cross recess, the contact surface is many times larger with our T-STAR plus, and the T-STAR bits are always positioned optimally in the screw head. The maximum, precise force transmission from the screwdriver to the screw that results from the use of T-STAR plus thus enables simple and ultra-fast work with much more efficiency than with other drives. What this means for you: No more annoying bit slips from the screw head – you can take care of serial fastening in no time at all!

Unlike the washer head, which transfers the tensile forces of the screw onto a larger area of the wood via its large underside, the narrow cylindrical head does not need to perform this task at all. With its size, which offers just enough space for the T-STAR plus drive, the cylindrical head can be completely countersunk into the wood, thus enabling simple, virtually invisible screw connections. The tensile forces exercised on a screw in wood construction are completely transferred to the wood via the full thread of the cylindrical head screws. If cylindrical head screws are installed horizontally, for instance decking screws on wooden decking, they can only be inserted flush in order to prevent water from gathering in the screw hole and damaging the wood. What this means for you: Even heavy-duty wood connections can be virtually invisible!

The fixing thread is a two-part thread featured on some SPAX screws. It consists of a main thread, which inserts into the substructure, and another thread below the head. The thread below the head is separated from the main thread by a short section of smooth shank, and ensures that the board remains securely in place on the substructure in all weather conditions. The smooth shank between the thread parts absorbs the movements of the board. What this means for you: No more re-fastening wooden boards that have become loose or creak too much!

In some areas, wood attachments have to be fastened to metal substructures, such as with our SPAX aluminium decking screw or in dry lining. Since normal screws would quickly meet their limit against hard metal, our range also includes screws with a special drill point. From the outside, it is reminiscent of the point of a metal drill, with two small blades. The SPAX aluminium screw drills into aluminium with wall thicknesses up to 4 mm to enable the thread to furrow into the material. This makes them just as easy to insert as our wood construction screws. What this means for you: With wall thicknesses of 2 mm in metal and 4 mm in aluminium, there is no longer any need for the otherwise customary pre-drilling with a metal drill. No having to change bits, no thin metal drill bits breaking in the screw hole.

With our stainless-steel screws, the abbreviation A2 refers to the alloy of the steel. ""A"" stands for austenite, a mix of iron and carbon with the alloying elements chrome, nickel and molybdenum. The 2(1-5) describes the alloy grade, in other words, the chrome and nickel content. Screws made of stainless steel A2 offer a high level of protection against corrosion and medium strength, However, they have low resistance to saltwater and acids. They are therefore a reliable, durable choice for outdoor applications in non-coastal areas. What this means for you: With our stainless steel A2 screws, you are optimally equipped for corrosion-resistant fastening in virtually all non-coastal construction projects.
