The flange head lies flat on the surface of the material into which it is screwed. It is commonly used in the furniture industry to attach hard fibreboard panels to the rear of cabinets and shelves. The flat, washer-like head of the screw saves space and enlarges the contact surface on the fibreboard. The head cannot easily be pulled through the board. The flange head is available up to an outer thread diameter of 5.0 mm.
