SPAX screws made of stainless steel are particularly suitable for use outdoors or in humid areas. They are available in A2 stainless steel for outdoor applications where they are directly exposed to the elements, as well as for humid indoor spaces (e.g. kitchen and bathroom). For applications in coastal areas, we recommend the A4 stainless steel version. Stainless steel is characterised by a high chrome content. This forms a protective layer on the surface of the material. Other constituents such as nickel, molybdenum, manganese and niobium achieve even better corrosion resistance.
Austenite is the main metallographic constituent of many stainless steels. It is non-magnetic.
