The SPAX screw for door fittings was specially developed to bear greater loads than a conventional 4 mm screw, while also having a head with a diameter of just 8 mm. This means that, depending on the design of the door or door fittings and the load on the screws, it can reduce the number of screws required. This saves time during installation and reduces the amount of material required.
The typical SPAX T-STAR plus drive is a so-called internal hexalobular. This shape increases the contact surface of our T-STAR plus, and the T-STAR plus bits fit perfectly into the screw head. The T-STAR plus enables the best possible transfer of power from the screwdriver to the screw, allowing for fast work and much more efficiency than with any other drive.
The countersunk head (or flat countersunk head) is flush with the surface.
Thanks to the full thread, the screw provides maximum hold and prevents material movement, in contrast to the partial thread, the full thread extends over the entire length of the screw. The more threads a screw has, the greater the tensile and compressive forces that can be transferred from the screw to the wood.
The term 4CUT refers to the square shape of the screw tip. These edges displace the wood fibres during screwing in and create space for the core diameter of the screw. This reduces the expansion pressure that the core exerts in the wood and prevents the wood from fanning out near the edge. The necessary torque of the cordless screwdriver is also reduced because the core of the screw does not have to be ‘squeezed’ into the wood.
With WIROX, SPAX has developed a coating that is far superior to galvanisation in terms of corrosion protection. WIROX does not use chromium (VI), and the screws are just as resilient even after years in an outdoor area that is not directly exposed to the weather. They are also environmentally friendly. WIROX screws are the first choice for all open structures without direct weathering, such as carports or pergolas.
The SPAX fitting screw also fulfils the requirements of SKH DIN EN 1670 – class 4, which makes it particularly suitable for the installation of door hinges and fittings. Its increased load-bearing capacity and versatile application options make it the ideal choice for heavy-duty wood connections.
